Private Well Water
Over 17,000,000 houses in the United States use private wells for their water source. Unlike municipal water supplies which take surface water from lakes, rivers and reservoirs, wells draw water from hundreds of feet below ground. Water percolates through the ground into the well which is then pumped with a well pump into the home.
Natural contaminants are the most common problem in the Hudson Valley and include:- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Iron
- Hydrogen sulfide
- Clay
- Bacteria
Other common contaminants may enter a water supply from human activity such as sewage, pesticides, and fuel. |
